In Out of the Dust, what letter was delayed because of the dust storm?

In April of 1935, the mail train is delayed because a dust storm has blown over the tracks, resulting in all of the incoming mail getting stuck for days on the Santa Fe. This delay causes a more personal hold up for Billie Jo; she eventually receives a late letter that had been written by her Aunt Ellis (the sister of her father), inviting Billie Jo to go live with her in Lubbock, Texas.

Although Billie Jo desperately wants to escape the Oklahoma Panhandle and all the bad memories that are contained there, she knows that she doesn't want to go live in Lubbock, nor does she want to live with her Aunt Ellis. Regardless, Billie Jo asks her father what he thinks about Aunt Ellis' proposal; his only response is, "Let's wait and see," which is emblematic of his apathy after the death of his wife and his inability to clearly communicate with his daughter.
