What was Shakespeare's wife's name?

Shakespeare's wife's name was Anne Hathaway. Shakespeare was 18 when he married her. She was 26 and pregnant. They had three children, the oldest named Susanna, followed by twins Hamnet and Judith. Hamnet died as a child, at age 11, and some critics, such as Stephen Greenblatt, contend that Hamlet is named after him. Greenblatt argues that in Hamlet, Shakespeare is expressing his grief over losing his own son.

We know very little about Anne Hathaway beyond bare bones facts that can be gleaned from legal documents such as wills. Like her husband, she did not leave personal diaries, journals or other kinds of writing that would give insights into her personality or her relationship with her extraordinary husband.
