The best evidence that I can think of that shows the ignorance of the Waknuk society is their rabid pursuit of eliminating genetic variation. The Strorm household even has framed sayings on their walls to remind them of the pursuit of genetic similarity.

As a science teacher, I know that is just ludicrous. Genetic variation is one of the greatest advantages of sexual reproduction. Offspring are always getting new, never before seen genetic coding. Variation leads to different adaptations. Adaptations lead to different levels of fitness, and higher levels of fitness leads to an increased chance of species survival. It's basic Darwinian survival of the fittest. The fact that the Waknuks do not know the importance of genetic variation shows me just how ignorant they are to how genetics and reproduction actually work. By trying to keep everything so pure, they are essentially practicing inbreeding, which has never worked well.
