Helen found the text about Joseph in the book of Genesis to be very dull. In fact, Helen thought "the unusual language and repetition made the story seem unreal and far away in the land of Canaan" (The Story of My Life, Chapter XXI). She actually fell asleep during her cousin's reading because she found the text so uninteresting.
