What is a topic sentence about healthy eating?

A topic sentence, or focus sentence, states the main idea of an expository writing. A topic sentence helps your readers know what your paragraph or writing will be about. Your topic sentence should display your stance on healthy eating and why you hold such an opinion. Some examples are provided below:

  • Eating healthy is important because it helps to maintain a healthy body weight.

  • Eating healthy is important because it helps build a healthy immune system so that an individual can fight off infections properly.

  • Eating healthy is important because it ensures that the body receives all the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals needed in order to perform at its maximum capacity.

The rest of your paragraph or essay should be devoted to providing researched facts that act as supporting details to the main idea that is articulated in your topic sentence.
